Cosaf mark revolutionary breakthrough with Europes first Climate Wizard installation
July 2010
Concerned about their environmental responsibilities, The University of Bolton decided to pursue various initiatives that would address their carbon footprint and fulfil their commitment to the introduction of low carbon technologies.
Needing a specialist solution to their server room’s climate control, the university approached industry HVAC experts, Cosaf, having already employed them to implement their award winning evaporative cooling system, Breezair, throughout main campus classrooms.
After evaluating and researching the server rooms need to keep the valuable equipment at a constant temperature to safe guard against overheating damage, Cosaf specified a new state-of-the-art technology system – Climate Wizard.
Climate Wizard is a revolutionary breakthrough in evaporate cooling technology, being Europe's first installation and the world's first data centre. The Climate Wizard provides low energy, low carbon cooling with no added moisture. No other evaporative cooler in the world can offer this highly specialised solution critical to temperature sensitive areas such as data centres and server rooms.
An altogether revolutionary form of indirect evaporative cooling, reductions in emissions can equate to six tonnes of CO2 per year for each new Climate Wizard installed in place of a ducted refrigerated system – an equivalent to one less car on the road.
By replacing their current air conditioning system with Climate Wizard, the university were able to supply air at refrigerated temperatures with no refrigerant gases and no compressors.
Cost savings in energy consumption of 80-90% are predicted to be achieved thus helping the university in achieving their aggressive carbon reduction targets.
Climate Wizard is a recent industry winner of energy efficient product of the Year and Product Excellence Award in its homeland of Australia and this Uk installation is believed to be the first indirect evaporative cooled server room in the world.
